Shelby Lynne's Holiday Playlist

Since debuting on the 1988 George Jones duet "If I Could Bottle This Up," Shelby Lynne has played everything from old-school Western swing to modern-day alt country, winning an ACM Award for New Female Vocalist of the year in 1990 and a Grammy for Best New Artist 11 years later. In the new millennium, she performed "Mother" at a star-studded John Lennon tribute and played Johnny Cash's mother, Carrie, in Walk the Line. Where her 2010 Merry Christmas was a mostly quiet affair, the playlist Lynne assembled here is heavy on the -- as she put it -- "bad ass blues songs," featuring selections from Booker T & the MGs, Ella Fitzgerald, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown and Johnny Winter.
