Songs Named After Famous People
by Linda Ryan | March 2, 2014
There are two recent releases that feature songs named after famous people: alt country singer Lydia Loveless' "Chris Isaak," and electropop duo Phantogram's "Bill Murray." It got us thinking about all the great songs that are named after famous people. This inspired the music folks in Rhapsody's Editorial department to play The Name Game — and, naturally, we made a playlist of the results.
The main rule of the game was that the title of the song had to be first and last name of the famous person, and nothing else. For example, Jonathan Richman's "Pablo Picasso" works, but Adam Ant's "Picasso Visita El Planeta De Los Simio" doesn't. Phantogram's "Bill Murray" works, but Deadly Avenger's "Chevy Chase's Hair," sadly, does not. Get the idea? Hit play to hear the songs we found that fit the bill. Add your own — and challenge your friends to come up with a few, as well.
