"Why would you live anywhere else? We've got the ocean, got the babes, got the sun, we've got the waves," Bethany Cosentino gushes over surf guitar and brisk beats on the title track opener of Best Coast's sophomore album. But soon the fog (or the smog) starts to creep in. The lo-fi scrappiness of the duo's debut has been buffed with Jon Brion's velvety production, as Cosentino turns on the melancholic alt-country charm, like fellow L.A. girl Jenny Lewis. And though she sings with more confidence, her lyrics still suggest a girl eternally stuck in teen-love hell. At least she's got California.

South Park Sessions is a new Rhapsody TV project wherein we invite our favorite musicians out to a lovely park near our San Francisco offices for a stripped-down, intimate, (hopefully) sunshine-filled private show. Indie-poppers Best Coast were kind enough to participate even though, as singer Bethany Cosentino admits, "We never really do acoustic or unplugged things. We're kind of against them." Live from South Park in SF, here's an exclusive performance of " No One Like You" from their new album, The Only Place. Enjoy.
