Stripped Down By The River

Imagine the xx minus Jamie: a boy and a girl hashing out their love lives over slow, woozy grooves. That's essentially what you get with Big Deal, the duo of Kacey Underwood and Alice Costelloe. Their 2012 debut, Lights Out, is warm and intimate -- the songs are like love notes floating in a sea of stripped-down guitars that buzz and drone as if the strings themselves know the feeling of heartache. The pair's vocals softly bounce off each other with mutual feelings of melancholy: "All I wanna do is talk/ But seeing you f*cks me up," they sing. Yeah, don't go another breakup without this.

You'll recall Big Deal as the lovely coed duo who recently serenaded us with their tune " Talk" as part of our Stripped Down by the River series of exclusive performances captured in Austin, Texas, during SXSW.
