SXSW 2014: Electronic Preview
by Philip Sherburne | March 9, 2014
Indie may be the bedrock of SXSW, but electronic music has long played a significant role there, even if only as a distraction -- who can forget Salem's history-making, head-scratching 2010 performance? — and as dance music's popularity grows in America, it's getting an even firmer foothold in Austin's soil. This year, the offerings run the gamut from bright-eyed electro-pop (Little Dragon, Tomas Barfod, Trust) to left-of-center club music (Jacques Greene, Dauwd, Chrissy Murderbot) to full-on EDM (Flosstradamus); even DJ Spinn and DJ Rashad will be on hand to initiate newcomers into the ways of Chicago footwork. We've put together a playlist featuring some of the artists we're most excited about seeing, including the above plus A Tribe Called Red, Ryan Hemsworth, Addison Groove and more.
