Teen Movie Jams

The '80s and '90s were an epic time for teen movies -- and their soundtracks. Quirky New Wave, funky synth-pop, cheesy AOR and moody goth-rock dominated '80s movies such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Pretty in Pink and Valley Girl. The'90s resurrected plenty of tunes from the previous decade, between The Replacements' "Can't Hardly Wait" (which gave its name to a movie), Letters to Cleo's Cheap Trick covers in 10 Things I Hate About You and General Public's "Tenderness" in Clueless. But plenty of modern acts -- from Juliana Hatfield Three and Lisa Loeb to The Cardigans and Placebo -- received a boost from prominent placement in flicks like Reality Bites, Romeo + Juliet and Cruel Intentions. Crank up this playlist and get misty-eyed about your misspent youth -- or reflect on how the characters in these movies had way more fun than you did.
