Back in the early '80s, Alabama were something new. Alongside groups like The Oak Ridge Boys, the band brought the band back into country music, playing their own instruments and fusing their country influences with riffs worthy of the Eagles or The Allman Brothers (while Oak Ridge played Vegas shows with guitarist Duane, Alabama showed off the extended jams on Alabama Live). Even with the success of the Eli Young and Zac Brown bands, country music is still dominated by solo stars, but those artists are ever indebted to the foursome to whom this playlist is dedicated. In conjunction with the release of the new Alabama & Friends tribute album, we've compiled two-and-a-half hours of music from the band, their peers and those they've influenced.
