Thinking Pink: October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
by Linda Ryan | October 5, 2013
Sheryl Crow battled it. So did Melissa Etheridge and Kylie Minogue. Angelina Jolie didn't but took decisive action to make sure she wouldn't. Of course we are talking about breast cancer -- and if there's ever a time to remind you to get checked, it's now, as October is officially Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And rather than offer up a bunch of lecherous songs about boobs, ta-tas and tits -- which we did initially consider (The Beautiful South's "36-D" is a damn fine song, but it seemed a little coarse for this set) -- we decided to take a more sober approach.
Here are some songs that support the fighters (Martina McBride's "I'm Gonna Love You Through It") and honor those who've been taken (Sarah McLachlan's "Angel"), while giving the survivors a much-need sense of accomplishment (Lady Antebellum's "I Was Here").
