Top 12 Country Albums, October 2012

by Linda Ryan  |  September 28, 2012

The dawn of fall has produced a bounty of excellent new releases for country/alt-country/roots fans -- hey, there's a reason we call it "harvest time." Little Big Town's Tornado, for example, is a personal best for the band, thanks in part to their chart-topping hit "Pontoon." C'mon, 'fess up: Did you even know what a pontoon was until that song came out?

Also, how amazing is The Avett Brothers' The Carpenter? Banjos rock, do they not? And Kix Brooks' New to This Town just wows us! I am inventing reasons to listen to the slinky "There's the Sun" just "one" more time. But really, the big news here is Dwight Yoakam's 3 Pears, his first album of new material in seven years! If that doesn't pique your curiosity, nothing will. So read on, hit "play" and enjoy this batch of new releases!
