Top 15 Electronic, June 2012

With summer upon us at last, we're finally rewarded with some of the most highly anticipated albums of the year. Many of these are follow-ups marking a return from a lengthy absence: Simian Mobile Disco, Dntel, I:Cube, Nathan Fake and Luke Abbott are among the artists to finally emerge from their studios, two or three years later, perhaps paler and skinnier, bearing the fruits of their obsessiveness. And then there are rising stars like Laurel Halo, Peaking Lights and DJ Rashad: Having made their mark in more insular scenes, their new albums open up to a wider world (without turning their backs on family). And, for listeners who care more about meteorology than biography, new records from Tomas Barfod, Disclosure and Session Victim offer summertime pleasures galore.
