Warped Tour 2014
by Evan Lucy | June 7, 2014
To paraphrase blink-182's "The Rock Show," we can't wait for summer and the Warped Tour. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the traveling punk-rock summer camp, a feat few (probably including founder Kevin Lyman) saw coming. Since first hitting the road in 1995 with a lineup that featured bands such as Deftones, No Doubt, Sublime and Face to Face, the tour has been on the cutting edge of what's new and next in alternative music. Warped went through some growing pains over the years -- when acts like Eminem, Limp Bizkit, The Black-Eyed Peas and Ice-T graced the festival's main stages -- before settling nicely into its current niche of punk, emo, hardcore and ska.
This year, the lineup spans pop punk heavyweights (Yellowcard, Saves the Day), long-running ska legends (Less Than Jake), club-ready pop (Breathe Carolina, The Ready Set), Southern-tinged rock (Every Time I Die) and singer-songwriter fare (the Acoustic Basement, this year featuring performances from Bayside, This Wild Life and more). And even though the lineup appears lacking in legendary punk bands (NOFX? Bad Religion? Please, Kevin?), newer acts like Teenage Bottlerocket and The Story So Far should ease the pain. No matter your musical preference, you're sure to find something in this playlist of Warped 2014 acts. See you in the pit.
