Rhapsody

Cespedes stepped out on her own in 2003 with this striking mix of the sacred and profane. Mingling Yoruba chants, hip-hop beats and rock guitar, Rezos reinterprets Cuban son through a modern lens with the help of producer Greg Landau (Susana Baca, Patato). For the uninitiated, Cespedes' voice will be the biggest revelation: it's as solid as a tree trunk.
