Booka Shade

Booka Shade's third album exemplifies why this Berlin-based duo continues to make fans in and outside dance music circles: everybody gets what they want. Insiders dig the depth of keyboardist/producer Walter Merziger and percussionist/producer Arno Kammermeier's electro-house grooves -- light in touch, organic in variety and endlessly propulsive. Whereas dabblers can just as easily hear it at as pop music, with songs like "Control Me" and "Karma Car" updating the synth-pop vibe of Thomas Dolby and classic Depeche Mode, or adding a digital kick to Air's analog lushness.
