Active (at least sporadically) since 1985, Sweden's legendarily sex-and-gore-obsessed stooge-punk quintet has long been the bar by which questionable music is set. They apply brain-numbingly repetitive half-riffs, creepy horn blasts and lower-than-lo-fi recording practices to highly explicit songs about how long it takes someone to die when all you have to kill them with is a hammer, the practice of murdering prostitutes, various forms of sodomy and disembowelment -- it actually gets worse from there. Brainbombs deliver their odes to evil in a crystal clear, Germanic accent the listener cannot help but understand. Of course it's all a joke, but this is definitely not the type of music you want to put on your eHarmony profile. With 20 releases (mostly singles) spread over almost as many labels and, until recently, zero reliable info as to who the members of the band are, Brainbombs have always been and remain one of the longest-running and most mysterious acts in the world of underground and outsider music. In 2008, the band performed live for the first time in over a decade, and their fifth full-length album, F*ck*ng Mess, appeared on Lystring Records.
