Brand New Heavies

This release doesn't start out promisingly, opening with the slightly presumptuous (and lethargic) "We've Got" and moving on to an uninspired rendering of the Stevie Wonder classic "I Don't Know Why (I Love You)." But things shape up; the band retrieves its customary relaxed (if not exactly revolutionary) groove on songs like "Get Used to It" and "Music," while N'Dea Davenport's velvety voice becomes the aural equivalent of Viagra as the album progresses.
