Busdriver

It's the hip-hop equivalent of splatter art: songs about the first unemployed black astronaut to touch the moon rub against disses to pretentious art school burnouts. Sure, it's thematically cacophonous, but patterns emerge: racism exists in among white listeners of underground hip-hop, poverty is a bitch and fun at the expense of vigilance can be disastrous. Or maybe it means nothing, and Busdriver is just some raving madman, using the recording medium to create a rattling, rhyme-mad Rorschach test. Either way, this is a great album.
