Cal Tjader

Two late-period Tjader albums get packaged together. Gozame! Pero Ya (1980) is a hot Latin set that includes one Johnny Mandel ballad while The Shining Sea is a shimmering jazz tour of the Mandel songbook. Oddly enough, Tjader actually solos a lot more on the first half, giving much on the latter over to pianist Hank Jones and saxophonist Scott Hamilton.
