Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine

The third album from the entirely loveable Carter USM went straight to number one in England on its original release in 1992. In those pre-Streets days, Carter were almost the only people other than the Pet Shop Boys who were writing witty songs about day to day life in England, and they were cherished for it. "The Only Living Boy In New Cross," the big hit from 1992, summarises this neatly – frenetic guitar, synth & drums with a sing along chorus and about as far from "The Only Living Boy In New York" as it's possible to get.
