Do we need a three-CD retrospective of Cheap Trick's 1978 concert at Budokan, plus alternate performances? Probably not. We don't need Shakespeare either, but it sure is nice to have him. When At Budokan came out, it offered a fierce and joyful alternative to bloated arena rock on the one hand and punk's nihilism on the other; songs like "Surrender" earned Cheap Trick a permanent spot in the rock pantheon.
