Chris Potter

About

Potter has emerged as one of the most talked-about young Post Bop saxophonists in recent years. Capable of exploring modal and borderline-free terrains as well as advanced Bop changes, he is consistently surefooted in his solos. While his grainy tone is vaguely Coltrane-esque, it's otherwise hard to pin down. Since debuting as a leader in 1992, he has recorded with such luminaries as guitarist John Scofield, bassists Dave Holland and Christian McBride, and drummers Billy Hart and Jack DeJohnette.
