Cinematic Orchestra

The Cinematic Orchestra have always married intimate soundscapes with monumental musical statements, making them a natural to record with a true orchestra. Here group leader Jason Swinscoe uses the Heritage Orchestra sparingly, letting his band (which includes guest vocalists) rule the day. The group can do cinematic washes of sound, songs ("To Build a Home" and "Familiar Ground") and kinetic nu jazz instrumentals with fiery post-bop-style solos ("Man with a Movie Camera"). As a real band + electronics + full orchestra concert document, this is in a league with Portishead's Roseland NYC Live.
