Coalesce

On their fourth full-length (their first in 10 years), early metalcore/mathcore purveyors Coalesce work through signature time changes, muddy distortions and pained vocal growls seething with life-lesson rhetoric. They manage to update their approach without compromising their sound by offering unconventional departures into twang territory ("Wild Ox Moan") and a healthy dose of melody ("Dead Is Dead," "In My Wake, for My Own") alongside their aggressively charged standard sound ("The Plot Against My Love," "Designed to Break a Man").
