Rhapsody

The problem with Coleman Hawkins is that everyone remembers he's the man who made the tenor sax a jazz solo instrument. But put that aside and just listen to the music that spans three decades on this boxset; even if Hawk wasn't the first he'd still be one of the best. He was so advanced that he glides through Swing and Bop and modern eras without ever sounding dated.
