Between 1969 and '70 Creedence released four stone-cold classic albums. Now that's one unprecedented run of excellence! The best of the lot has to be Green River. The thing is packed with mega-hits, including the title track, "Lodi," "Bad Moon Rising" and "Commotion." That said, it's deep cuts like "Sinister Purpose" and "Tombstone Shadow" that push this album over the top. Both are furious rockers, featuring knotted grooves, claustrophobic guitarwork and a delirious sense of impending doom.
