Georgia's Dark Meat dip into screaming noise rock, hairy Stooge-punk and full-throttled free jazz, but the neo-hippie collective, 13 strong most of the time, always remains rooted in Southern soil, which is a rarity when dealing with this kind of avant-freakery. Howling jams like "One More Trip" and "Dead Man," the record's top track, beg for some witty, music-critic tag like "twisted twang" or "rebel noise." But really, it's just good old rock 'n' roll, perfect for atavistic displays of joy.
