Five years since Daryle Singletary's 2002 album That's Why I Sing This Way finds him sounding like he's spent the past half a decade in his favorite honky-tonk. Had he actually done this, it might explain why his elastic tenor inflects like all the classic roadhouse country music heroes. His updated take on timeless beer joint anthems like Merle Haggard's "Bottle Let Me Down" sound like a young man blowing dust off an old record to try to make it sound new. Rhonda Vincent lends duet vocals on a truly impressive version of George Jones' "We're Gonna Hold On."
