Having long ago dispensed with the hippie-hop, De La Soul continue their post-debut pattern of aggressively distancing themselves from the D.A.I.S.Y. age, coming out swinging on tracks like "Live @ the Dugout '87," a menacing assessment of the state of hip-hop and their struggle to release this final AOI installment. But the old peace, love and potholes De La also surfaces here and there, as on the funky-fresh "You Got It" and "What the F@ck #1," a leftover from their second album with a sunny, storytelling flow.
