Deftones

The Deftones' debut album from 1995 is an abrasive mixture of stop/start rhythms and heavy, menacing guitars. Released on Madonna's Maverick label, the band found its niche creating aggressive, volatile music that takes the rap-rock route while avoiding the shortcuts. Like a simpler sounding Tool, they create heavy, genuinely involving music.
