This San Francisco-based artist collective sprang up during the dot-com boom of the late 1990s. That trend crashed, but Dhamaal's fortunes have been growing steadily, thanks to a wealth of talent that includes singer Sukhawat Ali Khan, percussionist Ferhan Qureshi and DJ/producer Maneesh the Twister. They use South Asian sounds as a springboard for their electronic experiments.
