Electronica/South Asian hybrids are hot right now, but every artist is taking the sound in a different direction. San Francisco's Dhamaal Soundsystem start with the electronics -- shuddering drum 'n' bass, dark breaks, spacious ambient -- and cajole the sound with digitally manipulated tabla, bansuri (wood flute) or strains of Sukhuwat Ali Khan's classical singing.
