Since migrating to New York City from his native Ireland, DJ Dara has been one of the premier exponents of Drum 'n' Bass in the U.S. He opened one of the first stateside record stores devoted to the music, started the Breakbeat Science label, and tirelessly toured the country with his impressive array of original tracks and dubplates. His productions tend toward the darker, harder edge of Drum 'n' Bass, enveloping the listener in a frantic din of droning basslines, punchy breakbeats, and spooky, repetitious synth effects.
