Douglas Armour

If Timberlake sits at the center of the Jacko revival movement, then Douglas Armour, a one-man band from L.A., wanders its outer limits. The dude definitely channels Off the Wall, Hall & Oates, Chic, etc. It's just that he transforms them into a kind of home-recording aesthetic buttressed by primitive, mechanical beats. There's some absolutely dazzling pop here, including "Fall Apart Again," "Towards the Light" and the blue-eyed funk perfection that is "Trembling, On the Verge."
