Newcomers shouldn't be fooled: Dr. John and Mac Rebennack are one and the same. Referencing his real name in this disc's title seems appropriate. The pensive beauty of "Lowdown Dirty and Blue" and the instrumental "Come Rain or Shine" are simply haunting, and the arrangements are stripped down and contemplative, leaving the New Orleans' native alone with his piano.
