Dr. Octagon

About

Playing the role of a sexually deviant medicine man, Kool Keith's Dr. Octagon struck a chord with all types of listeners on the '96 classic Dr. Octagonecologyst. Produced by San Francisco-based beat wizard the Automator, and featuring legendary DJ Q-Bert on the cuts, it quickly became a cult favorite, with the twisted gems "Blue Flowers," "Earth People," and "Bear Witness." Keith eventually killed off Octagon on the intro to his Dr. Dooom project. He continues to release new albums at a dizzying pace. (He put out three LPs in 2000 alone.) Q-Bert went on to release his solo epic Wave Twisters and work on films, while the Automator has stayed busy with eclectic projects like Handsome Boy Modeling School, Deltron 3030, and Gorillaz.
