Duke Ellington

This nocturnal ballad set mixes popular standards with beloved Ellington tunes. Numbers such as "Where or When" and a bleakly romantic and completely mesmerizing take of "Autumn Leaves" (which has Billy Strayhorn written all over it) really allow Duke's star soloist to step out of his shadow and shine while the man himself goes elegantly solitaire on the piano.
