Dwight Twilley

Twilley should've been a bigger star, considering he concocted a catchy fusion of Beatles-esque power pop and American roots rock that sounded not unlike Nick Lowe and Tom Petty. Then again, as Rarities Volume 1 clearly demonstrates, lost nuggets from the '70s such as "Black Eyes" and "Don't You Love Her" were too far ahead of their time. The jangly guitars and reverb-soaked vocals sound like pure new wave at a time when folks were still digging California soft rock.
