EMF

About

When the Madchester craze was at full throttle in the late 1980s/early 1990s, many credible and innovative bands such as the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays were called revolutionaries for fusing Britain's dance culture with their indie rock world. If you subscribe to the notion that art is either revolutionary or plagiarized, EMF may fit into the latter category -- not that they weren't a lot of fun. The band's 1991 smash hit "Unbelievable" introduced unknowing Americans to early Brit Pop by injecting into rock songs a host of dancefloor-friendly beats, looped samples, car sirens and trendy DJ scratching.
