Over their fifty-year career (they were known as the Goldsborough Orchestra until 1960), the English Chamber Orchestra have consistently proven themselves to be one of finest chamber orchestras in the world. Treating everything from Bach to Britten with phenomenal skill and depth of expression, they show a range as phenomenal as any ensemble in classical music. This is due in part to the group's decision to hire exclusively on a contract basis -- a policy that allows them to shape the group in accordance with the specific needs of an ever-changing program. They have released countless recordings on every major label, and consistently thrill audiences throughout the world with their exquisite live performances.
