At its best, Voyageur is both a pleasing and a very gently challenging listen. Scaling back the unusual hybrids (notably Gregorian chants with dance beats) of albums past, these tracks develop organically, finding wordless grooves (as on the title track) or creating vibrant backdrops for vocalists ("Boum Boum"). Reinvigorated work from a master of dynamics.
