If Beck reproduced his 1994 folk album One Foot in the Grave today, it might sound a bit like Etienne De Rocher (who actually name-checks Beck on "The Lizard Song"). The breathy singer turned down a deal with Capitol to make this album, and it took him five years to create such confident, catchy strum 'n' bass perfection.
