Everclear

Repackaging has been a part of Everclear's modus operandi since the group reworked its debut EP into a full-length back in '93. Fast-forward 16 years and Art Alexakis is at it once again. A collection of "new versions of previous hits and old fan favorites," In a Different Life is really nothing more than an inessential stop-gap release. However, revisiting these tunes makes it clear Alexakis' fusion of alternative cool and Springsteen bar-rock predated the Hold Steady's by over a decade.
