Humanoid Erotica is more twinkling hip-hop instrumentals from a master of the form. Woodwinds, slight piano melodies and Rhodes atmospherics are sprinkled over airy drum loops. "At the Bar" and "Triple Gold Dayton" are wispy and blunted, occasionally standing on the precipice of silence before retreating back to Jon’s trademark hypnotic funk. Still, Jon is a skilled enough producer so that the album never seems tedious or boring. Humanoid Erotica is a real find for fans of instrumental hip-hop.
