He could do big with it, or he could do tiny -- and he had a bit of Aaron Neville in those pipes. Hits like "Johnny," "Good Thing" and their cover of "Suspicious Minds" welded Blue-Eyed Soul and smooth European pop at the hip, producing visions of a dream Motown where the streets were lined with scooters.
