Force M.D.'s

About

A groundbreaking foursome from Staten Island, NYC, the Force M.D.'s got their start in the late 1970's, performing for friends and at local talent shows. Comprised of Stevie D, Jesse D, Mercury, and T.C.D., they were signed to Tommy Boy in '83, and the following year released their debut LP Love Letters. Fusing live instrumentation, hip-hop beats, and harmony-rich doo-wop style vocals, they found success with hit singles like "Tears," "Tender Love," and "Love Is A House." They recorded four albums with the label, but by the nineties their spotlight was fading. A fifth album in '94 went largely unnoticed, and two members passed away not long after. Several "best of" compilations have since appeared, and they have also contributed back-up vocals to records by Wu-Tang's RZA and Ghostface. In 2001 Tommy Boy released Let Me Love You - The Greatest Hits.
