For his debut Reprise LP, Sinatra tapped arranger Johnny Mandel and cut a good-time theme album. Mandel's brazen, adventurous charts are further enhanced by the finest West Coast jazz soloists as well as a vocalist whose confidence was outpaced only by his artistry. Sinatra moves like a jazz Indiana Jones -- he zigs and zags through stone-cold classics like "Let's Fall in Love," "In the Still of the Night" and "A Foggy Day" while nailing the emotional content of each song. Essential from start to finish; Sinatra should've worked with Mandel more than this one time.
