Rhapsody

Free Design greeted 1970 by shrugging its shoulders and constructing more intricate, sadly neglected songs that mix complex vocal pop, light psychedelia, and space age jazz. Group leader Chris Dedrick was probably the most sophisticated young arranger of the era (check out his work on the cover of Bacharach's "Raindrops..."), while his family band was capable of singing anything that he came up with. "Stay Off Your Frown" may be the stereotypical Free Design song ÃÂ¢ÃÂÃÂ an upbeat, hopeful and naive lyric backed by rich, oddball backing music.
