Fritz Kreisler

About

Fritz Kreisler's playing is like a window into the past for delineating the change of classical violin performance techniques from the late 19th to the early 20th century. A child prodigy, Kreisler developed a tone that influenced the way that modern performers approach their interpretations of a piece. His vibrato is evident on passages of any speed, though his overall sound is less mannered than the affected style that was prevalent in the Romantic era. Kreisler was a composer as well, releasing violin and other compositions (which he sometimes released under other composer's names), influenced by his studies with Anton Bruckner and Leo Delibes. Truly a legend of the violin, we are lucky to have this transitional performer's music recorded.
