Description
Encompasses everything from the earliest Walt Disney soundtracks to Alvin and the Chipmunks to the current sing-alongs with Barney. Originally, the genre consisted of songs lifted straight from films and television shows, but the success of these soundtracks spawned myriad spin-offs that had little to do with the original show (i.e. Sesame Street Fever). At its best, the genre creates memorable songs that children can relate to with or without visual stimulus.
