Southern Gospel

Southern Gospel borrows elements from other southern musical styles like Bluegrass and the blues, and fuses them with the strong tone of Gospel. Bill and Gloria Gaither are the rock-bottom foundation of this style, while te country-influenced Chuck Wagon Gang are still in the vanguard after nearly 65 years and countless personnel changes. Also prominent are the Cathedrals, whose trademark baritone and high tenor voices have put them in the forefront of the Southern Gospel scene for decades. The style is roundly upbeat, both musically and lyrically -- this is music that ranges in style from backyard hoedown music to songs you might hear Sunday morning at the town chapel.
