Description

As both music and dance, Tango represents machismo incarnate. Tango spread from the bordellos and bars of early twentieth century Argentina and climbed the social ladder, eventually infecting Paris and other cosmopolitan cities with racy, exotic excitement. The origins of the Tango band are purely Argentine, but it almost always includes the huge, melodramatic accordion known as the bandoneon -- which native son Astor Piazzolla used to propel Tango towards its current popularity.
